We're currently looking for bookkeepers...
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who enjoy helping small businesses run more smoothly. A recognised bookkeeping qualification would be great, but it's not essential — experience and a good eye for detail are just as valuable.
This role is about straightforward, day-to-day bookkeeping rather than complex financial work.
You must…
-
Be great with numbers and have bookkeeping experience, preferably using XERO, Quickbooks or FreeAgent – or be willing to learn these packages in your own time.
-
Be comfortable reconciling bank transactions, raising invoices, chasing payments (credit control) and preparing simple records for clients.
-
Have high attention to detail and take responsibility for double-checking your own work.
-
Be a proactive problem solver who is well organised and self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
-
Work well under pressure and have strong multi-tasking, time management and prioritising skills.
-
Be a strong communicator – on the phone, in person and online.
-
Work in a structured, methodical way to meet deadlines, using initiative and planning ahead.
-
Demonstrate a flexible attitude to your work.
You might sometimes also work alongside a client’s Virtual Assistant (VA), supporting them to keep the client’s wider business admin running smoothly. If you’re interested in taking on some VA work too, that’s fantastic — but if you’d rather focus solely on bookkeeping, that’s absolutely fine as well.
Work will build gradually but ideally we are looking for someone to work around 20 hours per week or more.
The role is offered on a self-employed basis. We can offer full support with this if needed and are also happy to answer any questions on how the role works in regards to AML (Anti-money Laundering) requirements.
If you are super-organised, with great bookkeeping skills and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, then we’d love to hear from you.

”I love the feeling of being part of a team. After working alone for many years, being part of Vi-VA has given me the chance to work closely with other team members and make real friends. Despite all of us being virtual, there's a real feel of camaraderie and looking out for each other and our clients.
